Lake Zurich: where do the 10 km/h limit and anchoring bans apply?

On Lake Zurich, the 10 km/h zone does not always end 300 m from shore. It also includes the marked Frauenwinkel area and Zurich basin. That does not make the whole area an anchoring exclusion zone.

Speed limits

  • With an engine, the limit is 10 km/h within 300 m of shore. In Frauenwinkel and Zurich basin, follow the marked boundaries extending further out.

Before anchoring

  • The protected water zone in Frauenwinkel has its own boundary. Swimming, landing, mooring and passing through are prohibited there. Use the protection plan and signs, not just your distance from an island.
  • Elsewhere, check local anchoring bans, harbour entrances and scheduled-vessel manoeuvres. Deep water or a gap between other boats does not establish permission to anchor.
