Where can you anchor on Lake Thun?

Anchoring is not generally banned on Lake Thun. But shallow water near the shore does not, by itself, make a spot permitted or suitable.

Before dropping anchor

  • Do not obstruct navigation. Keep harbour access and the manoeuvring space of scheduled passenger vessels clear. Anchoring near marked commercial fishing gear is prohibited.
  • Check local anchoring bans and protected areas. An unmarked patch of water on a map is not proof that anchoring is allowed.
  • Outside authorised berths, a boat may remain anchored or moored for more than 24 hours only if someone is aboard. This does not override local bans.
