Water sports
Do you need a buoyancy aid on a SUP?
On Lake Thun, beyond the 300 m shore zone, you must carry a suitable buoyancy aid with at least 50 N of buoyancy on your SUP. Wearing it from the start is the more sensible option.
What else applies
- On rivers, the requirement applies regardless of distance from shore. Use only a quick-release leash there; a fixed ankle leash can be dangerous around obstacles.
- Put your name and address visibly on the board. At night and in poor visibility, use a white light visible from all directions.
- Keep clear of swimming areas, nature protection zones and scheduled passenger vessel routes. Check Lake Constance rules separately.
