Weather and fishing

Can you fish on Lake Thun without a permit?

Yes, from shore under the free-fishing rules. You may use one rod with a single barbless hook, without a permit or SaNa certificate. This exception does not apply when fishing from a boat.

These rules still apply

  • Live and dead baitfish are prohibited. Artificial lures are not generally banned, but must comply with the single barbless hook requirement.
  • Minimum sizes, closed seasons, catch limits and protected areas still apply. Legal-sized fish caught outside their closed season may not simply be released; keeping them alive in captivity is prohibited.
  • You must be able to identify species and handle and kill fish in accordance with animal welfare rules. Not needing a SaNa certificate does not remove that responsibility.
